When it involves footwear, patent finishes are nothing new. Over the years we’ve seen many a “power outfit” grounded in a pointed-toe patent stiletto, as well as loads of over-the-knee sneakers common out of the shiny materials perhaps better fitted to a “horny” Halloween costume than an on an everyday basis getup. But in our post
Fashion Week tally of the largest avenue fashion trends for this season
this fashion we thought we knew kept cropping up once more and again—this time in the type of glossy fall boots. Everyone from Alexa Chung to Eva Chen confirmed up to the exhibits sporting shiny patent boots in quite a lot of colors (from brilliant reds to slick whites) and with a spread of details (pointed toes, kitten heels, to buckle embellishments). It’s a finish that immediately brings us back to the OTT looks of the eighties, so it is right in line with trend’s obsession with all issues retro.
The Fashion Week crowd may be onto something here: This fashion matches in properly with pretty much all the massive trends we’ve been eyeing for fall 2017 (the moody florals, the pale pinks, the gray suiting). It instantly dressed up any outfit that erred on the casual facet. Plus, we already reach for our beloved ankle boots as soon as the climate begins turning—patent leather-based is but an various choice for the silhouette we’re already shopping for into. And although we might automatically gravitate toward the simple black patent, the fashionable set has satisfied us that bold purple versions work just as well for everyday wear, whether it is with a chambray costume or with denims and a jacket.
Already we’ve seen a very Instagrammable possibility pop up at Zara
a worthy contender for the autumn 2017 model of that viral costume. Unlike different super-specific staples that circulated during Fashion Week (see: gray plaid blazers), fire-engine pink is not the one shade on this family value considering. There’s also burgundy, a hue already well represented in our autumnal wardrobe rotation and one which occurs to translate fairly fantastically into patent footwear.
Of course, we would not be speaking street-style tendencies if there weren’t an OTT extreme value discussing: When it comes to patent boots, the over-the-knee choices have been rehashed and refreshed in eye-catching, super-saturated shades like orange. Though they could be extra for the ’gram than your everyday #OOTD, they do provide a playful swap to the standard suede silhouettes seen on many a mannequin off responsibility. Thanks to their unofficial street-style endorsement, patent boots have all of a sudden skyrocketed to the very top of our fall buying listing, so don’t be stunned whenever you start recognizing them increasingly often as the season progresses. Good luck selecting only one pair of patent leather boots to put on this season—there’s a whole bunch worth shopping for. See some more of our favorites beneath.
