What is All Over Printing, and how does it work? – Make a Strong First Impression
All-Over-Printing is a relatively new and exciting trend in the printing world of personalised T-shirts and textiles. Similar to conventional printing, but not limited to a single area of the Tee, allowing designers to experiment with seams, hems, and zips in ways never before possible. We all know and enjoy DTG, screen, and/or transfer printing, and we can picture the stamp of the machine focused on one specific area, suspending the image in negative space, on those occasions. However, in this case, the design reaches all the way to the garment’s very edges, completely filling the space! Don’t worry if this is all new to you; we’ll walk you through each stitch step-by-step. Leave it to the experts; we’ll take care of everything.
Who do you think you are?
Are you arranging an event and require a large quantity of full-color t-shirts that will stand out from afar? Are you looking for a way to wow your customers with a new printing technique that packs a punch for their products? Are you a viral online sensation trying to cash in on your success? Are you looking for ideas for a new uniform, workwear, or promotional clothing for an upcoming event, for example? After all, as a trendsetter, shouldn’t you be the first to know about this new craze? You might want to consider an all-over print.
What is All-Over Print, exactly? – Supreme Monogram All Over Print Shirt
A word that refers to a specific garment printing method that covers every inch of the garment. One of the few ways to tell if the cloth was all-over printed is to look at the seams, the hem, and other details like the zippers, which aren’t visible in conventional and more common types of garment printing. This print is created by layering the t-shirt on a level surface and then printing on top of it, which ensures that any elements not exposed to the ink, such as the hems, are unaffected. If the garment’s hem or inner is printed, it’s safe to assume that the cloth was printed before it was sewed; this is the more traditional and successful method of all-over printing. But don’t confuse this with a “oversized print”! This is usually accomplished through the use of huge screens and is intended to go beyond the limitations of standard printing procedures.
When should you think about using all-over print?
Do the outfits in your mind’s eye have a continuous design or a fractal-like design that travels across the fabric indefinitely? If this is the case, all-over printing will look to be seamless! When an element is built in such a way that it produces the illusion of existing outside the canvas’s limits, this is referred to as “bleed” by graphic designers. To elaborate, when a designer approaches a graphic, they take special care to integrate bleed in their work. You might be wondering what bleed is. It is the negative space that extends beyond the design’s intended boundary. When using All Over print, the design will need to be cut, and the bleed acts as a safety net, ensuring that the final product appears just as you imagined! Every printer is different, with its own quirks and precise levels. Designers typically provide 2-5mm of extra room on either side of the final graphic to ensure it makes it onto the final garment completely. If the graphic spreads into the “bleed zone,” you can trim the outer-fringe to your liking to avoid a white eyesore. Similarly, the inner portion of the design might be referred to as the “trim zone” when it is reduced to its final dimensions. When we print artwork on a t-shirt or garment, we usually keep it to the front or back, but with all-over print, it can be, for lack of a better term, all over the place. It’s a striking approach that’ll make bold statements and leave a lasting impression.
