A’ja Wilson, the WNBA sensation, described her colleague Kahleah Copper in a very colorful way during a live broadcast at the Olympics in Paris, causing fans to erupt in laughter.
Following the United States women’s basketball team’s ninth consecutive gold medal victory, Wilson was asked to characterize Copper’s performance by an NBC sideline reporter. Wilson shot back, “She’s a bad b****,” without skipping a beat, sending the broadcast crew reeling to bleep the profanity. Wilson then turned to face the camera and grinned mischievously before turning to leave fans in stitches.
Wilson’s frank comment caused social media to explode with responses. “I was cracking up in front of my TV,” a fan commented on X. One more person said, “She’s not wrong!!!” “It’s the look into the camera for me,” a third person said. However, she is not lying.
Wilson, who turned 28 this past Saturday, scored 21 points and was a key player in Team USA’s thrilling 67-66 triumph over France. With just 3.9 seconds remaining, Copper sank two vital free throws as part of his impressive 12-point performance.
It was the first time in Olympic history that the same two teams competed in both gold medal games when they won their respective matches less than twenty-four hours earlier, against France on the men’s side. In contrast, the women’s match was much tighter, with France’s last attempt just missing the three-point line.
Several well-known people, including LeBron James and his family and the late Kobe Bryant’s family, attended the game. The Bryant family was especially happy to celebrate alongside Sabrina Ionescu, who won her maiden Olympic gold medal under the guidance of the legendary Lakers player.
Throughout her time in college, Ionescu had a close friendship with Kobe, who assisted her in honing her abilities. Despite Kobe’s untimely death in 2020, Ionescu and the Bryant family have remained close.
The U.S. women’s basketball team’s hard work and dedication were evident in their Olympic success, and A’ja Wilson’s frank remark eloquently encapsulated the team’s spirit and brotherhood.
