Boston Celtics Outlast Indiana Pacers in Game 1 Thriller

In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers 133–128 in overtime by taking advantage of costly turnovers committed by the Pacers.

The Pacers, who had just defeated the Knicks in Game 7, demonstrated their tenacity and offensive prowess in spite of a 12-0 start by the Celtics. Tyrese Haliburton led the way with 25 points and 10 assists.

Both teams shot well from the field, and the game stayed close the entire time. But the Pacers’ 22 turnovers turned out to be a big contributing factor, as the Celtics scored 32 points as a result.

The Pacers had a three-point lead in the last minute of regulation, but they blew it thanks to two critical turnovers. After the second turnover, Jaylen Brown made a crucial 3-pointer to tie the game and force overtime.

After scoring 10 of his 36 points in overtime, Jayson Tatum proved to be the game’s hero for the Celtics. Boston had a commanding lead thanks to his three-point play and another three-pointer from beyond the arc, which they held onto until the final buzzer.

Brown and Jrue Holiday, who combined for 54 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists, were also major contributors for the Celtics. Al Horford contributed 15 points and six rebounds while standing in for the injured Kristaps Porzingis.

Seven players scored in double figures, showing the Pacers’ offensive promise despite the setback. Myles Turner contributed 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Pascal Siakam shined with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

But the defense of the Celtics turned out to be the game-changing factor. They were able to secure the victory by forcing turnovers and taking advantage of the Pacers’ errors.

The Pacers will try to rally and tie the series in Game 2 of the series on Thursday in Boston. In the meanwhile, the Celtics want to build on their triumph in Game 1 and preserve their home-court edge.
