Calvin Klein chooses Jungkook (BTS) as the global ambassador
On the evening of March 27, Calvin Klein’s social media account caused a stir in the online community when it suddenly posted a video of Jungkook (BTS). Notably, although the character in the teaser is not revealed, based on features such as tattoos on hands and lip piercings, the ARMY fan community can still quickly recognize the youngest BTS member. In addition to revealing the image of Jungkook, the Calvin Klein brand also left a hidden message about the collaboration with the BTS member: “This time tomorrow?”.
True to its promise, on March 28, Calvin Klein officially released all campaign photos with the representative face of Jungkook. Although wearing only two simple sets of jeans and underwear throughout the set, Jungkook still caused a storm on the internet thanks to his attractive charisma, generous wet hair, and toned body.
The male idol’s excellent performance quickly helped Calvin Klein attract a huge amount of interaction online. After only 1 hour of posting, the set has received more than 700 thousand hearts, the campaign clip has also reached 1 million views and is still increasing at a dizzying speed.
A day earlier, the teaser that Calvin Klein posted about the collaboration with Jungkook also created an equally attractive effect. After just a few hours, the video teasing the male artist became the most viewed video on Calvin Klein’s Instagram account. To date, the video has attracted nearly 22 million views.
The hashtags #JUNGKOOKxCALVINKLEIN and #JUNGKOOK also quickly reached the top trending (trending) on Twitter Korea and Twitter in many countries. Not only becoming a social media smasher, but Jungkook also helped Calvin Klein’s Twitter account reach 4 million followers and the stock price of PVH Corporation (Phillips Van Heusen, owner of Calvin Klein) increased sharply.
“Jungkook is one of the most popular artists in the world,” said Jonathan Bottomley, global marketing director for Calvin Klein. He possesses a rare ability to connect with international audiences through his music and style. We are fortunate and delighted to have him join the Calvin Klein team.”
“I’ve been a Calvin Klein fan for a long time and I’m excited to be the brand’s newest global ambassador. This partnership is very special as Calvin Klein’s values and heritage are so in tune with mine.
Aside from music being my way of communicating with fans around the globe, this collaboration is a great opportunity to connect with them in a new direction. I’m excited to show a new side of myself in my first campaign under the brand.”
According to the announcement from Calvin Klein, Jungkook’s image will be officially released on Billboards (billboards) in New York on April 1. Thus, the BTS member is the first Korean male artist and the second Korean star after Jennie (BLACKPINK) to appear on Calvin Klein Billboard in the US.
