Chanakya Ateliers was established in 1982, where artisans from all parts of India and traditional Indian techniques of embroidery, knitting, applique, and dyeing are characteristic of centuries old. This is not the first time Dior and Maria Grazia Chiuri collaborated with Chanakya Ateliers in India. Maria Grazia Chiuri has chosen vibrant colors, materials, and textures to portray her feelings and love for India’s millennia-old history, culture, and crafts. Marc Bohan came to India in 1962 and has since brought about significant changes in Dior’s design direction – more youthful, dynamic, and contemporary. The cut lines simulate traditional Indian clothing, and the silhouette of the sari, straight skirt, and short coat… reflects inspiration from India’s culture and fashion heritage.
