Use shoe polish to create a waterproof layer

Step 1: Remove mud and rain water

Step 2: Remove shoelaces (if any)

Step 5: Put old newspaper in shoes
Old newspaper will help absorb moisture from the leather, ensuring your shoes dry evenly on both the inside and the outside.
Note, when the paper inserted in the shoe is wet, you need to replace it with new paper. Otherwise, that old newspaper will become a source of mold for your shoes.
