In Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Second Round, the New York Rangers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 thanks to Artemi Panarin’s overtime brilliance. As of right moment, the Rangers lead the series 3-0.
Just 1:43 into overtime, Panarin scored the game-winning goal by skillfully redirecting a clever assist from Vincent Trocheck between his legs.
“I was very emotional and happy,” Panarin remarked. “It’s nice to see a puck go in the net, especially in that game.”
With 1:36 remaining in regulation and goalie Pyotr Kochetkov being withdrawn, Andrei Svechnikov’s spectacular equalizer had forced overtime for the Hurricanes.
Igor Shesterkin made 45 saves as the Rangers also scored through Chris Kreider and Alexis Lafreniere.
Although Jake Guentzel of Carolina started the score, the Hurricanes are still upset with their 0-for-15 power play performance during the series.
Rod Brind’Amour, the coach of the Hurricanes, acknowledged, “We’re not executing very well.” “You’ve got to give [the Rangers] credit…they’re doing a great job on the kill.”
