Recently, luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has launched the Early Spring 2023 collection for men. With the name “Fall in Love”, the collection has taken the fashion industry on a journey to explore the relationship between the artistic creations of the DJ profession and fashion design.

Before his death in 2021, Virgil Abloh began working on the Early Spring 2023 collection. A DJ himself, Abloh wanted to explore this work through the lens of a designer. The first drawings were shaped by Abloh based on inspiration from the famous “Attic Parties” by DJ David Mancuso. Now, his final designs have also been completed with the support of his associates, and released to the public as “Fall in Love”.
Dubbed the first DJ, Mancuso transformed his apartment into an iconic party space in the 1970s. This Louis Vuitton collection highlights the similarities between music and fashion, through symbols defined by Mancuso’s counterculture era: anti-racism, gender equality, and the LGBTQ+ movement.
Just as Mancuso tried to change the minds of guests by playing his own recordings, the French fashion house continues to honor Virgil Abloh’s legacy in using fashion to promote egalitarianism. and anti-prejudice ideas, an idea inspired by the civil rights movement that is spreading across the United States.
Through “Fall in Love”, Louis Vuitton brings fashionistas to a complete wardrobe, located inside an attic apartment in the heart of busy New York City. Abloh has “packed” the bustling atmosphere of Mancuso’s parties into flared pants, wide-leg pants, or loose-fitting jackets with a strong sense of 70s fashion.
The design emphasizes dynamism, diverse styles from polite to “dusted”, from street style to sporty, etc. Completing the look for the boys in the 70s are suede chukka boots, shoes. square-toed loafers, soft leather dance shoes and Oxfords.
In particular, the French fashion house has cleverly created the Louis Vuitton logo expressed in the form of sound waves, bringing music and fashion together in a subtle and luxurious way. Both DJs and designers are creative masters in their fields. Louis Vuitton pays homage to these artists through a series of designs in the shape of workwear. Painted textures create eye-catching visual effects and bird prints are used to affirm the hard-working spirit and free spirit in each artist.
