For the Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2023 Collection, Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière asked the question “What is French style?” with young designers from all over the world in his team. It is not surprising that they all have very different answers, reflecting the diversity of French style – the main inspiration for this collection.
Louis Vuitton fall winter 2023 collection: the enchanting and mysterious beauty of french style
This year’s Fall-Winter collection was launched at the Musée d’Orsay (Orsay museum), one of the most famous cultural destinations in France. Nicolas Ghesquière collaborated with renowned artist Philippe Parreno and sound designer James Chinlund to recreate the typical cobblestone street of Paris, with the sound of hustle and bustle of the French capital. The sound of the model’s heartbeat and footsteps are amplified, emphasizing the lively scene of the show.
The collection brings the enchanting beauty and mysterious charm of French fashion style. The designs bring together the intersection of sophisticated, elegant designs with bold variations. On the catwalk, the model stepped out one by one with an elegantly pleated blazer and a belt that accentuated the woman’s graceful waist.
Besides, the leather jacket is treated to simulate wool with eye-catching printing and embossing methods. Checkered suits are fitted with soft scarves, and thick wool is used in both the angular dress and the knit cardigan. In the collection, the most quintessential things are reflected in every little detail – like striped sequined leather jeans, or 3D dresses with thin metal threads, creating a spider-like feel.
The pearl necklace is also a typical French accessory that is broken and applied on lace dresses that are both mischievous and equally charming. Meanwhile, the cafeteria staff uniforms are created into black dresses with white collars and shoulders, honoring the difference in the French service industry.
Another distinctive feature of France is the national flag that appears in red, white, and blue on the fashion house’s GO 14 shoulder bag and leather gloves. In general, the collection is like a solemn celebration of the pioneering heritage of France in general and the French style in particular.
