I would watch him in the evenings and late at night and he always manage to entertain made with his tenacity knowledge and acceptance of other cultures.

That’s how it seems to me, too. He seemed “successful”. Yet, we didn’t personally know him, did we? Or the pain he hid. And I know this much, he would nor have shared that anyway. When it hurts too much, you keep it to yourself. And all the “success” in the world does not change that. In fact it would probably intensify pain you were trying to hide. Make it look larger. Like, “why can’t this stop now’??? You are my sunshine sunflower quilt I feel so very bad for this man and hope he can rest in peace now. Sad indeed, I liked his beautiful and genuine love of the world and its culture…
My observation, however, is that although he had been able to pursue what he enjoyed doing, he completely turned his back on: meditation and/or spiritual pursuits; present day’s dislike of alcohol and meat… and what millennials and the world need to do to sustain and thrive into the next century. At one point, I found watching his shows gross as he glorified ancient flesh eating cultures rather than the new and mindful ways of eating for optimal health. He missed a great opportunity to be loved by some of us who are vegetarians
