Earlier this year, Tom Trandt shared that you have just taken on a new role as Creative Director for Hanoia brand. Can you share your feelings about taking on this position? Was it an exciting start?
Becoming a Creative Director at a unique brand like Hanoia is an exciting challenge. After nearly a year of getting to know and adapt to this new role, my feelings are still the same as the first day. I have a constant joy in living in an artistic atmosphere.
If Tom’s own brand Moidien has a youthful street style, mixed with a bit of wit, Hanoia tends to traditional and elegant beauty. How do you strike a balance between taking on two brands with different aesthetic views? Did you find common ground between the two brands?
I don’t plan to find common ground between the two brands. To contribute to the construction of Hanoia, I feel like learning from scratch, about Hanoia’s history, the techniques that Hanoia has developed, and the community around Hanoia.
It’s important to master your expertise and continually improve, as the team you work with is of high standards. Every day, I find ways to work more scientifically to have more time just for thinking, researching and researching.
It can be said that Lanh My A is a typical material in Hanoia’s fashion line. Did you have any trouble getting used to this material?
My wish is to bring designs that are colorful and at the same time combined with the jet black color of Lanh My A. It will take some time for me to really understand this very special material, because the only way. To gain insight is to practice and experiment a lot.
In the Bloom collection you brought to the ELLE Fashion Show, what features would you like to introduce?
With this debut collection, the most important thing for me is to bring out the image of a youthful and practical Hanoia. The most special thing is that Hanoia’s signature lacquer technique is delicately combined with fashion products that anyone can easily use.
Over the years, I’ve grown accustomed to the autonomy in deciding every detail of a brand’s design and image. As a newcomer in a long-term team, having understood the brand very well with a lot of experience, I need to listen and throughout the product development process, there are a lot of “self-reflection” moments.
The most interesting thing is that when working in many different environments, I feel my growth, it can be said that day by day, my self-critical thinking is also stronger, working more and more scientifically, The senses are also more acute.
The year 2022 is almost over. How does Tom feel about his post-pandemic comeback? What do you look forward to next year?
I believe I was born under a lucky star. In work and life, I always have a constant joy. I really love the field I’m doing, always feel inspired, so everything is comfortable and smooth.
This year, I have “discovered” a lot of things, all of which are seemingly very small things – like micro habits – but have contributed greatly to shaping my life. I hope next year I will have more discoveries like that.
