Steph Curry has been inducted into Davidson mythology thirteen years after she left. In front of an audience that had assembled to honour the retired NBA player, Curry received his degree from Davidson College during a ceremony honoring his accomplishments.

To receive his Bachelor of Science in Sociology, the 34-year-old had to finish one semester of school, which he did in May. He was unable to make it to the commencement, nevertheless. But on Wednesday night, he was finally recognized. In addition to obtaining his diploma, Curry was also inducted into the Davidson College Hall of Fame and had his now-famous No. 30 jersey number retired by the school.
Curry admitted that he sometimes feels uncomfortable when he enters the gym and sees so many people there to celebrate with him, including his graduation, induction into the Hall of Fame, and the sight of his jersey hanging in the rafters. “However, every single individual I had the pleasure of playing with as well as my coaches were there to support me while I was wounded or injured and looking for a means to return to the court.
Every member of the teachers and staff who helped me over my three years here. I firmly believe that this is the reason why this is important.” It hit me seeing, you know, familiar faces, friends, people that you went to war with, people that believed in you before even anyone else in the country knew what we were about, and I was trying to figure out how to really embrace this moment because my mum said, “I don’t know if anybody’s had a solo graduation of this magnitude before.”

Curry made sports history by becoming the first Davidson athlete to have his jersey number retired.
It is required by the institution that players hold a degree before their jerseys can be retired. Curry developed into a potential star while attending the school, which is situated about 25 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina, where the four-time NBA champion was raised.
Curry completed his illustrious career as the all-time leading scorer in the Southern Conference after just three seasons. In 2008, he set both an NCAA record of 162 three-pointers and a conference record of 414 making triples in a career. All three years, Curry was named to the conference’s first team, and in 2009, he received unanimous All-American honors.
Speaking at the event in honor of Curry were his parents, Sonya and Dell, as well as his former coach, Bob McKillop. Davidson president Doug Hicks remarked at the ceremony, “To achieve this degree, you demonstrated perseverance and commitment.” “It would have been so simple and easy to forgo getting your college degree.
Yet in reaction to that notion, you behaved in the same manner as 29 other NBA teams and replied, “Night, night.” Golden State Warriors selected Curry with the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Curry represented the college from 2006 to 2009. Curry, who plays for the San Francisco franchise, has grown into a league-changing talent, almost entirely by himself, affecting the way teams play both offense and defense.
Curry beat the record for the most three-pointers made in a season twice after setting it in the 2012–2013 season. Curry passed Ray Allen to claim the NBA record for three-pointers made in a career on December 14, 2021. Curry has been an All-Star eight times and has won four NBA championships in his 13 years in the league, most recently last season. He has also been awarded NBA Most Valuable Player twice.
