First released in 2019, the Faubourg is considered one of the “holy grail” bags that any Hermès handbag collector would love to own, for a number of reasons:
1. The bag is named after the Hermès flagship store in Paris, 24 rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The front of the bag simulates the front of a flagship store. The leather is cut into glass panes. Even the eaves of the glass doors are delicately recreated in leather.
2. To shape the design, Hermès artisans need to use 5 different leather materials and colors. Alligator leather is blended with the familiar Swift, Epsom and Togo leather of the Hermès family. The first version of 2019 has two color codes: navy blue and brown. But the new model of 2021 – also Kylie Jenner’s 25th birthday gift – has the main ivory white color.
3. The bag is sewn in Sellier style with sharp edges, instead of the familiar Retourne-style soft shape of the Birkin bag line. The Sellier style is often applied mainly to the Kelly line.
4. The Faubourg Birkin model is the first Hermès Birkin handbag to be crafted in a size of 20 cm, which is very small when compared to other Birkin sizes.
According to information from Christie’s auction house, only super, super VIP customers of Hermès can order this bag from genuine. Otherwise, you will have to buy the product on the transfer market. The sale price is currently ranging from 320,000 to 355,000 USD!
Besides the Birkin Faubourg 20 handbag, Kylie Jenner was also given another rare Hermès handbag, a three-color Birkin Colormatic model. The gift from Kris Jenner’s mother was a Spring Summer 2022 design. “I’ve never seen [a handbag model] like it,” she exclaims in a video of the opening scene. “It’s gorgeous.”
The famous Hermès orange leather product, with an unusual highlight, is the contrasting color square compartment with a zipper mouth. A friend asked Kylie, “How many were made in total?”. She replied, “Only three were made in the world”.
However, the Birkin Colormatic is part of a new collection, and Hermès doesn’t label the design “limited edition” either. Therefore, it is not clear where the information “only 3 in the world” comes from. However, the word of mouth that the star uttered immediately spread throughout social networks.
Kylie Jenner is famous for collecting rare handbags. She used to take pictures to share her wardrobe.
