Despite the fact that “America” is in the name of their country, “The United Stats of” is not. At some point, you need to realize this fact. If I had been there too I would have helped you. Spanish was spoken in the USA before the pilgrims landed! My state is Bilingual English and Spanish by our state constitution. There is NO official language in the USA. I’ll bet $1000 that lady did not speak only Spanish when she visited Spain. And I’ll bet no Spaniard harassed her over it. Freedom of speech includes the right to speak in *any* language in your free time, in any location, including restaurants.

There are millions of American Jews who speak Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino with their families in public spaces. Would it be ok for the lady on camera to harass them? Millions of Cuban-Americans (the majority vote GOP) speak spanish all over this country. Amish and Mennonites speak German dialects in public. Hawaiians speak Hawaiian or Pidgeon. Haitian-Americans, Acadians, and Quebecois descendants speak dialects of French in public. Tourism is a $1Trillion industry in the US. Do we want to harass foreign language speakers at restaurants or at malls for using another language? There are already people choosing Canada over the US for vacations, because they see these hostile videos and think all Americans are just as ghastly. Exactly it’s sad. And what’s even more sad is not a lot of people are willing to stand up for someone that this is happening to.
